The OC Fair has officially begun and it’s time for me to reveal my entries. This year, I decided to try my hand at another subcategory: 3D art. It’s a vague category considering all dolls, animals, and toys are 3D. It’s actually somewhat the same subcategory as dolls, but last year the division winner entered his pieces as such. I didn’t feel like he had enough competition and I want to beat him so that’s why I did it. I realize I have a competitive streak. I don’t even care about the cash prizes. I just want to win.
My 3D entry is a vintage camping scene. I did a lot of things I’ve never done before with this project: edging, bobbles, and on the fly designing.
It’s pretty cute, but I don’t know if it will get me ribbon.
The doll I made was an improved version of the mermaid I made my niece for Christmas. I got all creative on her face. I embroidered a cute mouth, nose, and eyelashes. Her hair was much fuller as well. I had to attach individual strands of yarn to accomplish this. I even bought her a little doll stand so she could display properly. She feels like a winner to me.
I have no idea what the competition looks like yet. I have to go to the fair to see for myself. I will update when I go.
